Totally agree with you. As a forum regular and gamer who archives screenshots and mods, I’ve noticed the same thing in XnConvert: “Keep metadata” feels selective, stripping depth maps and AI PNG prompts, which is frustrating. A true “Keep ALL metadata” pass-through would be ace.

I've tried with any PNG image and the result is the same.

Cases 1 & 2 occur intermittently and I cannot reproduce them.

I can reproduce, caused by antialiasing zoom-in filters (all except bilinear)
however, no issues with same filters during zoom-out

XnView: MP 1.9.8 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 10 - 64bit

When a paletted 4-bit PNG is zoomed in, it turns into a series of stripes. Apparently, one column stretches across the entire width of the image.

ImageMagick command to create such images:
magick.exe input.png ...

It definitely occurs for the three file types I create from ComfyUI: .png, .mp4 and .mov.

I found this workaround:
If I use the Refresh function (F5) before assigning the rating, the rating is remembered.

1) Select a PNG image and press Ctrl+C, then Ctrl+V to copy the image; the thumbnail doesn't display.

2) Press F5 to update and it should display correctly.

3) Select the copied PNG image and press Ctrl+U to convert it to JPG; the ...
