There you go, I think I found it:
I deleted my xnview.ini (to reset to default), then I could not reproduce it anymore.
I had to change 2 settings to make it reproducible:
Settings > Interface > Switching modes > Enter: Browser <-> Fullscreen | Viewer <-> Fullscreen
View > View as > Details

Strange, even if you restart XnView?
If i restart xnviewmp shows updated preview when instantly when loaded.
I have following settings now.

Actually checked again, with above settings only need to switch one image ahead and back to get updated preview.
