... Catalog Filter.

Refer to the thread Michel posted…

Category tags can be in either IPTC or XMP format, and they can be saved in the image file, in a sidecar file (non-destructive Adobe style), both, or neither (just retained only in the XnViewMP database). It just depends on the settings you choose.

In XnView MP Tools > Settings... > View > Filter -- Custom do you have AI/PDF/AI selected?

That would seem to be a prerequisite for viewing those formats, but possibly not sufficient...

See also Tools > Settings... >File list > Custom filter , to complicate matters, not sure how those two ...

... you browse to a folder in XnViewMP, it stores information about those files in the catalog (assuming you have the Catalog enabled; check your settings). In essence, browsing to a folder "auto-adds" it to the catalog, without a separate import step. Once the information is stored, it is available ...

Startup speed tip - hide problem folders...

What I have found is that making a subfolder hidden that is full of files unrelated to xnview usage, dramatically changed the startup speed from very ...

Re: The Thumbnail Problem

You're talking about browsing in XnViewMP, right?

I did some tests at one point, when I was configuring the app, and I seem to recall that using webp for thumbnails was a little bit faster than using jpeg.

Have you actually timed both settings on the same folder?
