NConvert v5.00 for Windows/Windows 64bits/Linux/Linux 64bits/MacOS X/FreeBSD/ DOS32 LE & OS/2 is available. NConvert can be downloaded on the XnView download page.
:-)
Works. Some space for improvements, though:
- DOS version reports itself as "for OS/2" (see post below)
- Undocumented: I ...

Re: NConvert copy/noop operation?
nconvert -q 100 -rotate 0.0 -o that.jpg this.jpg
Very bad idea :( Bloats size, quality loss (minimal), no benefit ...
Lower "q" could approach original size, but would trash quality ... :(
Probably no, but would be easy to add of you convince Pierre/Xnview about benefits of such a feature ;)

4.90: very good, some minor things
4.90 is very good and very useful for me :-)
Nevertheless, I'd like to report a few minor things that could be improved in future:
- DOS version still reports itself as "version for OS/2"
- Limits: NC ends up in a dead loop or produces strange/unuseful error messages when it runs out of memory or ...

Re: nconvert and 32 bit bitmaps -> no go
I just want to ask if there will be a 32 bit support for bitmaps because
most programs don't support them and it's long winded to convert them with AlphaConv.
First I have to convert them to PNG and then I can convert to JPEG2000 but it would be a lot faster if I could convert them directly.
OK ...

minor problem
I guess that "-n" is __old__ and was designed to apply to both source and destination file sets, now you use a list from a script (new !!!) to set the source set, so the numbering feature gets confused.May be I not quite properly understand -n conception?

Filelist + commmands list
No answer yet :|
Simplifying the idea, if NCONVERT obtains just one file , assume it as text file containing both the commands, and the list of files ... just define a character or string preceding a new commandline to make it well distinguishable from a filename ;-)

NCONVERT commandline parsing / filelist
Hacker wrote in other thread:
Could you please add an option for XnView to read filenames from a filelist? A filelist would look like
Filelist and Commandlist ;-)
Why ? NCONVERT's commandline can easily reach many 100's of bytes and I have some problems to pass it :-(
EDIT : reduced junk ...

Re: NC DOS test
Thanks.
NConvert has no limit
Sorry but I have to report some doubt here ... maybe it has no intentional and documented limits ... but in fact it has them ... as soon as the image size exceeds cca 100 MiB, it stops working: PNG can't be saved, resize does nothing, etc.

NOT true. People DO cry when they buy a "600 GB" HD and find "530 GB free" then
And the difference is 10% when reaching 1 "Terabyte"
