6 requests concerning zoom levels

I want to suggest 6 ways to improve the zoom (for when you use the mouse wheel to zoom in/out)... 1. More zoom stages. This is my main complaint: There are nowhere near enough stages for the zoom. It goes from 100% to 200% to 300%. This is way too abrupt. I have done some experimentation and determi...

Re: FullScreen <> Browser switching

Sorry if this is offtopic, but I have a question. I use XnView Classic and have it set up to launch images fullscreen then switch between fullscreen and browser. However, this means I can't do a "select zoom" as that feature doesn't work in fullscreen. Is it possible in MP to use "select zoom" while...

Re: Crashes if path is long or contains foreign characters

Thanks for the reply Cday :) XnView Classic doesn't support Unicode characters, only XnView MP and XnConvert I thought XnView MP was really just for Mac or Linux users? I have just found a list of differences between XnView and XnView MP , but I still don't get why there are two versions? Could anyo...

Crashes if path is long or contains foreign characters

I have had a problem with XnView for a long time now. When I open an image, the program always crashes if: 1. The folder path contains foreign characters (eg עִבְ or 漢字) or 2. The folder path is longer than about 237 characters Similar threads from the past: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php...

Re: Global Request & Suggestion list *Read this first*

Please could you add my recent suggestion to the list, under the "Browser" category: - Equal Height Thumbnails I really would like to see this become a part of XnView and hope Pierre will look at it/consider it - I have even outlined exactly how it can be programmed. (Note, there have been similar r...

Re: Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)

I've made another illustration, this time using real images in a real folder on my hard drive. At this scale, only 1 extra thumbnail is visible, but the thumbnails are generally slightly larger and look neater: http://i.imgsafe.org/f2eef5a.png I also want to mention the 'Parent Directory' icon. It d...

Re: Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)

try also with some pictures with ratio=1. Square images are not too common, so I don't think I'll bother making another illustration just for that (I have to calculate all the sizes manually and it takes time). Bear in mind, the point is not really about how much bigger the thumbnails are - you can...

Re: Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)

Hello, ... Interesting but only/mostly in the case of sort by ratio. That's not true! It makes no difference what order the images are in. Here's another example of a typical folder with mixed ratios. Note how many more thumbnails you see on the right, and how they are generally all bigger... http:...

Equal-height Thumbnails (Like Google image search)

Problem: One problem with the thumbnail browser is all the wasted space in the screen: a folder full of landscape pictures has big gaps between each row, while a folder full of portrait pictures has big gaps between each column. Solution: A much better way of displaying thumbnails is to make all th...

Re: My prefs stopped working

Now I think about it, yes, there might have been a crash. XnView doesn't tend to work when I view images in folders that have foreign language characters. I now I recall, I was trying to view a foreign language folder and I think it did crash.

My prefs stopped working

Today I ran XnView as normal, but all the prefs had inexplicably changed - seemed to have reverted to the default values. (eg it doesn't open in fullscreen, the toolbars are different, the keyboard controls are different) I have now managed to replace the xnview.ini file with an old backup and it se...

Re: Can't "make selection" for zoom

Do you think you can try to fix this, or is this just something I will have to live with?

Also, even when the zoom works, it doesn't work properly. It doesn't zoom precisely to the selected area, it zooms wider than the selected are.

Re: Can't "make selection" for zoom

Sorry, the setting I was talking about is "InFullscreen". If I change that to 0 or 1 then select zoom works, but then the program doesn't go into thumbnail when you press enter. Also, even when the select zoom works, it is buggy. Sometimes it zooms to the area you select, but usually it zooms to a l...

Re: Can't "make selection" for zoom

but you have not fixed the problem in the .ini? Changing the ini is a cheat, but it doesn't really fix the bug or solve the problem. If I change "Mode when starting with a file" to 0 or 1, the select zoom will mysteriously work. But I don't want this setting set to 0 or 1, I want it set to 2. Can't...
