Re: Question about the browser XMP tab in 1.97.4

Well, it's 2012 (and getting into autumn), XnView Windows is now at 1.98, and the
XMP pane in the Browser view still looks like this:

Or maybe I'm the only one with or for whom this looks ugly?

could you send me samples? For the moment, here's a stdout ("burp-back") of one file from Exiv2 in my Cygwin install . # exiv2 -px bucketwife-07-189-007.jpg | grep Event Xmp.expressionmedia.Event XmpText 15 Non Nude & Sexy Xmp.mediapro.Event XmpText 15 Non Nude & Sexy Xmp.iptcExt.Event LangAlt 15 N...

IPTC Fixture Id doesn't copy to XMP

Funny that, because there are three options available. Granted, all three use different namespaces and display differently in different applications that support XMP, but as the old saying goes, it's better than nothing . Nothing is what XnView has now. May I introduce: 1. IPTC CORE EXTENDED EVENT 2...

What info lines won't wrap (that should)

In Browser mode: anything in the XMP tab when XMP data is present in a file. If we can't have the XMP tab in the Windows native versions look quite as neat & tidy as the one in MP, the very least we can expect is that it doesn't display its data all on one line. It makes copy&paste a hassle, for sta...

Re: Ability to edit text to file Window title

This is a cropped screen shot of XnView 1.98.5 showing what I mean. Metadata submenu is in Tools menu The Tools menu disappears as soon as you switch to View mode, both in the Windows and Linux builds of 0.39. N.B: The linked image (post from 31 January) displays an image in View mode in the native...

Re: Unable to add comment in properties

Be very careful with Edit Comment, as it requires you to re-save your image file. If you don't have "Keep original date/time attributes" checked in your Save or Save As dialogs, adding a comment via Edit Comment and then clicking File>Save will change the modification date of your JPEG file. You may...

Re: filename in IPTC

Thank you for your answer. I have also been found, but you have to edit each photo individually. It is then difficult for many photos. I'm doing it now with a batch file and exiftool. Would be cool if you could somehow integrate it as an external program. Greetings. I second the suggestion to bring...

Enable Exiftool in the Windows version?

It would certainly solve the issue, if it is an issue, I discussed in this thread . With it, you could get rid of all three of the metadata tabs in the Browser's Info pane, replace it with this one Exiftool pane (take a look at screenshots of MP Browser windows to see what I mean), and get all your ...

Re: read files order ? from folder

In the Browser, there's a Sort by... option, but moving from image to image in Viewer and Full-screen, which includes Quick Slideshow, the only options I could find for direction of displayed images were Backward, Forward and Random. Which seems a bit strange, because I believe there is a preference...

Re: Ability to edit text to file Window title

What do you mean by " branched menu off Edit"? This is a cropped screen shot of XnView 1.98.5 showing what I mean. http://img811.imageshack.us/img811/300/branchedmenuoffedit.th.jpg I couldn't remember the OOP term or the more common "power user" term when I was writing that post -- "branched menu" ...

Re: Features to add to Slideshow (Win/Lin)

I suppose I could put something together to show how I would like to see things, and a screenshot of how it's done now in full-screen and slideshow in the latest version to compare and contrast it with. The sweet irony here is that I'll probably be creating the former in GIMP 2.6 for Windows. :) Whe...

Re: Ability to edit text to file Window title

budz, That reminds me of how I'm still waiting for the branched menu off Edit that brings up such things as the 'Edit IPTC Information' window in the Win32 build to "arrive in MP," so to speak. Until I see it, I'll consider the MPs not quite as useful and up-to-date as the "mama binary," Win32, what...

Re: 0.39: Could not see a single image or thumbnail

I've since reinstalled, and everything that was missing is appearing as normal now. Maybe it had something to do with the fact I had "Display" as the default in GNOME Configuration Editor when double-clicking on executable text files (in this case the xnview shell script that launches the applicatio...

Re: Still crops in 1.98.5

Could you send me a sample with problem? I just did so this morning. It's a pretty good example of the problem, as I used the same string for EXIF Image Description, which displays in full in XnView. I sent an original file and three modified "window shots" from, besides XnView, the Windows 7 Explo...

Run filter on a selection only?

I presume this is possible with a User-configured Filter, but what I'd prefer to know is if it's possible to run, for example, a Photoshop .8bf-type filter on a selection, rather than an entire image.
