Still crops in 1.98.5

It's interesting how Windows 7's Explorer can read and display the complete Comment string, regardless of what application or utility was used to write it into a file, but XnView -- an application made for viewing graphic image files and their metadata -- still has trouble with this one particular t...

Let's lose XCF!

Even Wikipedia knows about XnView's limits with regard to this format: XnView can display single-layer non-indexed images. I think most people who use the GIMP consider XCF to be the GIMP team's answer to Adobe Photoshop's PSD format. More than likely, they save their XCF files as multiple layers. I...

Re: Description vs. Comment vs. ???

I'd also suggest clicking the checkbox in "Edit IPTC Data" that's marked Update or create XMP . There are a few image viewing, editing and cataloging applications, many of them commercial, that will read in an XMP Description -- more or less the same thing as an IPTC Caption -- sooner than they will...

Re: linux version captions

Have you tried posting your question to one of the the MP Testing subforums? It's more likely you'll get an answer to your question there.

This subforum is for the native Windows version.

Re: Move or set-off "Browse" command in File menu

You mean to have a separator in the menu above 'Browse'? Yes. And maybe one below it. And I can't think of much more to say about it than what I wrote in my OP: the command takes one from View mode into Browser mode, the latter of which can take up as much of the window space as possible. Try to im...

0.39: Could not see a single image or thumbnail

Ubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 in Ubuntu Classic mode (my laptop won't "do" Unity).

Trashed it, but am willing to download and unpack it again if there are any suggestions.

Move or set-off "Browse" command in File menu

I find I'm clicking on it too often when I mean to invoke "Reopen" instead. "Browse" deserves, imo, to be set off between separators anyways, as it's a "switch" command between two of the modes of XnView: the single image viewer and the thumbnail browser. Even Irfan sets his off with horizontal line...

Re: "Copy EXIF User Comment to Comment" -- why?

I've just installed XnView 1.98.3 and I see the line for "User Comment" in the EXIF tab of the Properties window in Viewer mode. I also notice there's a problem. I've only viewed two pictures and their corresponding EXIF data (by the means mentioned above), and I notice that in each case, the first ...

"Copy EXIF User Comment to Comment" -- why?

"Copy EXIF User Comment to Comment" is a command that appears in the Metadata sub-menu of the Edit menu of many recent Windows versions of XnView. I'd like to know why it's there, since I have yet to see a "User Comment" label or string in the EXIF tab -- in the Browser or the Viewer -- for any JPEG...

Re: Question about the browser XMP tab in 1.97.4

Currently only XnViewMP is able to show XMP like that... Okay. So I've seen asmuch. Any plans to make the one (Win32 native) look more like the other (MP on all plats)? No only XnViewMP has XMP features... I would accept that were it true. At any rate, while XnView MP for Windows has this to displa...

Re: XMP Tab in browser - Let's finally bring...

Why isn't there an XMP tab in the Properties dialog? Perhaps there is no XMP data for the image...? Whether there is or isn't makes no difference -- there's no tab to display it. Quoting myself from 26/8/2010: You wouldn't know that JPEG file had any XMP data embedded in it if you didn't go into th...

1.97.4:Multi-line IPTC Captions still don't "break"

By "break" I mean: start a new line at the appropriate marker in the string. Take this one for an example: CAPTION IN TEXT EDITOR: She looks vaguely like a Klingon (and she probably doesn't even watch Star Trek). Written to the JPEG file using exiv2 0.21.1 in Cygwin, the same CLI application reads i...

Browser mode (0.35): Edit IPTC/XMP needs an icon.

Of course, it also "needs" to get "borrowed" by View mode -- editing default.bar does nothing (I'm presuming here there's no code support for it). I'd suggest something showing a pencil or pen over a horizontal rectangle which vaguely resembles a newspaper (recognizing IPTC's origins in the internat...

Okay. It's taken me nearly a year to reply.

Sorry i don't understand. What's the problem here?
Why isn't there an XMP tab in the Properties dialog?
