Pre-cache thumbnails

Request:
I would like to be able to pre-cache directories.

Circumstances:
I weekly download comic book packs. After unpacking the *.cbr files I generally have about 100 directories with 25 pictures each. When I then start using XnView, for every directory I have to wait a couple of seconds to ...

Re: Save JPEG in fixed file size

What I do is the following:

Set the initial quality to 90% and picture size to 100%

while(pic_size > wanted_size)
quality -= 5%
picture size -= 10%

So, the iterations go like this (quality, pic size):
1. 90%, 100%
2. 85%, 90%
3. 80%, 80%
4. 75%, 70%
5. 70%, 60%
...

Of course, if you only want ...

Re: [1.97.2] : Can't start on Win 7 (missing DLL)

I didn't have 'OpenExr' plugin. But, after deleting the 'IlmImf' plugin it worked.

Thanks.

[1.97.2] : Can't start on Win 7 (missing DLL)

I just installed XnView v1.97.2, and on startup I get this error message:
xnview.exe - System Error

The program can't start because MSVCP71.dll is missing from your
computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
Please help.

Re: Documentation for newbie

Just look in the directories of the GflSdk. There are examples there.

GFL SDK v3.11 alpha/beta/rc/stable?

Dear Pierre,

What is the status of v3.11 of the SDK?
Is it alpha or beta or RC or stable? Please inform.

Also, the 'WhatsNew.txt' file refers to v3.0.5 instead of v3.11.

Thank you,

Sander

Re: Directories containing the 'ë' character not displayed

Ok, I tested it with XnView MP. It works!

http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj149/iycgtptyarvg/XnViewCharBug3.png

To be honest I didn't even know about the existence of XnView MP (Multi-Processing?). It's great to know there will be proper Unicode support. Especially support for multi ...

Re: Directories containing the 'ë' character not displayed

I'm not sure which font it is, but it's a standard Windows font (WinXp SP3 English version). I don't have any special fonts or themes installed.

See the screenshots below.
In XnView, the word 'Feëerieken' is split in a strange way. Also, I cannot select the directory in XnView.
In Explorer (other ...

Directories containing the 'ë' character not displayed

As stated, any directory containing the letter ' ë ' doesn't work in XnView. This letter is a common letter in Dutch (Netherlands).
I haven't tested any other characters with accents, but fixing this bug will probably mean you fix all these letters.

Thanks.

Hi Clo, thanks for the response. I unpacked the archive in the XnView folder. And of course it asked me whether to overwrite the files, but that is logical since 99% of the files have the same name as previous versions of XnView.
I always do this, and until today it has never gone wrong. I really ...

Great that you guys can reproduce it.

I started noticing it recently when I was editing photos from my new camera. Because they are way too large, I used the fit width (numpad-1) and fit height (numpad-3) to get the initial size. After that I wanted to zoom until the scene was exactly centered and ...

Zoom function fails after using 'numpad 1' and 'numpad 3'

Bug:
Using the zoom function with numpad + and numpad - fails when used after numpad 1 or numpad 3. Using numpad / or numpad * does work correctly.
The problem is that after you press numpad 1 to fit the picture, I would expect the picture to be zoomed in/out a little bit when pressing numpad + or ...
