Re: Can't Open File
Pierre is wonderful, and I know he will. But I won't die if it takes awhile to figure out.

Re: Can't Open File
I tried to compare them with AptDiff and get a messagebox-loop, "The parameter is incorrect" and it never lets up.
I selected borked.jpg in one file and good.jpg in the other box and chose "binary" for comparison.
It won't do it. I'm having a bad day at this.

Re: Can't Open File
So I am using jpegSnoop from your link (I always wanted one of these! thanks!)
I did find a difference between these two files.
The Marker: DHT section has some differences: the Offset is different, and the Huffman Table length is different.
In fact, all three sets of DHT values are different. I don ...

Re: Can't Open File
Most of the time I don't have any problem running multiple instances of MP.
However, I do seem to have issues copying/moving files from one MP to another. I haven't tried to troubleshoot this, though.

Re: Can't Open File
Here you can see an example of how the panel tabs disappear when you select a "broken" file.

Re: Can't Open File
Correct. I like to work with multiple instances of MP (sometimes 5 or 6) and have them open to different folders.
I wish MP could open multiple browser tabs...

Re: Can't Open File
Sorry, I AM using version .87, in fact.
Okay, I'm deleting all the cache. (Settings > Browser > Catalog > Delete all [button])
Okay, I deleted all the cache and the problem remains.

Re: Can't Open File
Here is another interesting thing:
I'm not exactly sure what order I did things here... I wasn't in "debug mind" at that time.
The first way went by copying from one MP to another MP, with renaming done in MP.
The second way went by copying and renaming the files outside MP.

Re: Can't Open File
Another problem is this - I had a handful of image files and I renamed them in MP, but I guess MP had issues with one or two of them and didn't rename any of those files. I tried moving them between instances of MP and they dragged and dropped but didn't move.

Re: Can't Open File
Pierre,
Okay, I tried this. I copied those files to the root of another disk.
I still can't open them. MP does not show their XIF, preview, histogram or anything except file properties - the other side tabs are all missing.

Re: .mp4 files locked after viewing
Pierre, yes - one for browser and one for the mp4 file.
So the mp4 keeps playing in the tab until I "view" another file. If I double-click on a jpg then *that* opens in that second tab and the movie stops playing.
But if I don't open another file in view mode, then the mp4 is locked because MP ...

.mp4 files locked after viewing
With my camera I take a lot of photos and an occasional movie (mp4).
Then I view them all the same in MP.
So I double click on the files to view them - images and movies alike.
I also don't use tabs - so I have the settings all set so there is only ever a single tab open and then I hide all tabs ...
