BMP 2+10+10+10 BI_BITFIELDS
XnView and FFmpeg fail for the attached BMP. The source is the FFmpeg RGBTESTSRC filter, 320 x 240 pixels, 766 colours. In the BMP all 8 bits source colours are represented by 10 bits (padding 00 or 11 determined by the most significant bit). The two alpha bits are 11 (= no transparency). The format...

Re: Error saving PNG
2015-07-25-0001.jpg ... Can someone please confirm? WFM. About some unrelated stuff I read here after some months off-line: Presumably you know deark mentioned in another thread, there is a working Windows 64bits binary in the tarball. I had easy filter SmartCurve for years (presumably triggered by...

Re: BUG: XnView browser always auto selects first item...
When switching to another program then back to XnView, the XnView browser always auto selects first item--even if nothing was originally selected. I can't reproduce this with 2.34, presumably because I just don't get what doesn't work for you. When I open XnView and two pictures (browser + red + re...

Re: Vulnerable LibPNG in latest XnView
It would be great if it could be upgraded to 1.6.19, the latest version at this moment, which fixes these issues. If openssl + libpng team up they could beat Adobe Flash or Oracle Java in a "fixed security bugs per hour" pissing contest. Meanwhile the libpng folks claim that 1.6.19 also isn't good,...

Re: Suggestions: Fit image to width + WebM format
And what about support for the WebP image format? XnView can read and write WebP VP8 (the lossy YUV fomats) and VP8L (the lossless RGBA format). The write options are minimal, you can pick a quality, and 100% is interpreted as lossless. WebP lossless is very good for anything up to 32bits (8 red, 8...

Two Nconvert 6.80 32bits versions
Error on my side, I downloaded the full XnView classic 2.34 ZIP and both Nconvert ZIPs (32 and 64bits). Ending up with two 32bits Nconvert.exe 6.80, one in the full ZIP, another in the separate package. However, why are the binaries different? Both claim to be compiled on 2015-09-07 15:43:25. The Nc...

Re: XnView Media Detector
If you have others suggestions.. Yeah, find somebody who can tell you how it's supposed to work. But you have to tell them which Windows version you're using. The difference between, say, Win 7 32bits and Win 7 64bits could be relevant: XnView classic and the media detector are 32bit applica...

Re: v2.32 Can't open this JPG file
Vague idea: That's apparently XnView classic on a CJK Windows (Chinese, maybe) with a French file name. XnView classic does not support Unicode, and on your box "inférieur" ends up as "inferieur" and "not found". If you need Unicode check out XnView MP, or if that's just one special case rename the ...

OpenSSL libraries not up-to-date
Hi, I'm not sure where to post this: Apparently the XnView 2.33 addons contain OpenSSL 1.0.0.15 libraries built in October, 2014. With a = 1, b = 2, etc. that corresponds to OpenSSL 1.0.0o (lower case O = 15). As of June, 2015 the recommended 1.0.0? version is 1.0.0s (s = 19). There are also 1.0.1? ...

Re: XnView Media Detector
Is it always usable ? Is there alternative ? Good questions, I just tested the download link posted above and found a vintage 2007 version 1.6.1.0 of XnViewMediaDetector.exe in the ZIP. In my XnView folder on Windows 7 SP 1 x64 I already had a fresher version 1.8.0.0, but I can't tell if this softw...

Re: SVG support via rsvg-convert.exe
https://sourceforge.net/projects/tumagcc/files/rsvg-convert-2.40.9.7z/download That's a nice tool, I often used it to convert odd SVGs (identified as invalid by the W3C validator) to good enough valid SVGs for the purposes of Wikimedia commons . For some background info see enwiki . But I don't get...

Re: Backspace is for deleting left text, not for navigation
its sole default function is to delete text to the left. That's not really the case, applications are free to use backpace for other purposes, e.g., crude over-printing effects, known as non-destructive BS . The enwiki article states: The backspace key is commonly used to go back a page (or up one ...
