so i installed the .deb package in ubuntu 12. progress barrs indicated things were installing and i
got a message that it finished. ok. so how do i run the program? it's not in any of my launch menus
and no desktop link appeared. can't seem to find it anywhere.

last version i could get to run was v39. since then i just get a crash and system error
before i even get to the program. error just says the application quit unexpectedly
and do i want to ignore, report it to apple, or relaunch. relaunching just repeats the
same process.

this could turn into a major problem for me. any chance
it might be implemented? frankly, xnview/nconvert support
so many formats, i'm surprised this is not available.

got it working. don't know if it's in the right place but i did get it working. eequired a
change of permissions:

chmod -R 755 /usr/bin/nconvert

i can't find anything on how to install nconvert on my ubuntu laptop. i've extracted the file i downloaded and see what appears to be an executable but no info on how to or where to place this file on ubuntu. can someone guide me through this? where do i cp this file to? do i need to do anything aft...

thanks pierre. i don't actually have the astrophotography app yet. i'm just in the process of investigating cameras and their accompanying capture apps. for that reason, i have no fits files yet that might display in xnview. because i love xnview/nconvert, i wanted to find out if the fits format, wh...

i may be using an astrophotography app that saves ccd images in .fits format.
is that something xnview/nconvert can deal with? i see fit as a supported
format but not fits.
