Interface appears to allow rating of folders

Post by aramando » Wed Dec 17, 2014 11:19 pm

XnView MP allows folders to be rated, even though it cannot store those ratings in the database.

Personally I would love to be able to rate folders as well as images, but at the very least I think that if they cannot be rated then the program should not falsely appear to support it.

XnView MP 0.71, Windows 8.1 Pro

I've just noticed the same applies to colour labels. The browser shows assigned colour labels for folders, but there is nowhere for them to be stored in the database and they are not retained.

This is all rather disappointing, as the ability to rate, label and categorise folders as well as images was one of the main things that drew me to XnView over other image viewing and cataloguing software. It's great that you can still categorise folders, but even with that, managing folders' categories is very much a 2nd-rate experience compared to doing the same for images.

I'm really hoping that there is a plan to bring folder-level cataloging in line with image-level cataloging.
