0.84 MacOS: Suddenly photos resorting

Post by iMiKE »

XnView: MP 0.84 - 64 bit
OS: macOS 10.12.3 64bit

Sometime when I move my mouse over the photos thumbnails XnView drags nearest to cursor photo to point where I finish my cursor movement. So I need to resort pictures again. This happens in thumbnail view.

Effect: Photos resorted in wrong order.

To reproduce:
1. Open thumbnails view;
2. Just move cursor over the thumbnails;
3. You shouldn't press any mouse buttons;
4. At some time random photo under cursor drags to point where you finish your cursor move.
Actual behaviour (bug): Photo under cursor drags to some point :bug:

Expected behaviour: When you don't drag files they shouldn't move makes wrong sorting order.

Sorry, Mike, for not responding. There seem to be very few users with MacOS around.

@Pierre: Could you please check?

I have sorting - EXIF Date or Creating Date.
But when one foto under cursor moves to another position, sorting order is changed to Custom sorting.

To me this problem looks as if dragging of files is activated erroneously in some situations which results in a custom sorting.

Do you assign ratings or colour labels by clicking on the thumbnails? Do you use drag&drop in file list for moving or copying files? Which view (Thumbnails, Thumbnails+Filename, ...) in View » View As » do you use?

You're absolutely right.
Erroneously one of the photos under cursor snaps to cursor and drags to cursor destination, resulting wrong sorting.
Nope, I don't assign colour labels or ratings.
I use d'n'd for copy files.
I use Thumbnails+Filenames view.

Nope, I usually generate all thumbs first and only after generation work with files.

Hmm, might be a bug in XnView MP; perhaps in a quick workflow with a focus switch from one pane to another. Perhaps you could run a screen recorder in background and record all your actions while working with XnView MP till the problem occurs? Ideally the screen recorder should be able to make mouse clicks visible and/or audible. Just an idea...
