I switched some settings in export dialog for "JPEG" and went to the "GIF" format tab. Then I saw a wrong preview image.
Here are the steps I did to get the preview image colour errors:
1. Load a picture in xvniewmp
2. File => Export ...
3. "JPEG" tab (is the default)
4. Switch colour mode: 16M to greyscale
5. Choose "GIF" tab
The colour mode is set to 256 colours, but the image colours are very dark and wrong.

Re: 0.91 beta 1 - Export dialog - Switching JPEG to GIF shows wrong preview image
Have you tried different Dithering settings, and do you have a Transparency setting, which probably isn't appropriate? Have you tried a different image?
No problem on an image I tested using 0.89, except for some slight banding artefacts with Dithering set to Adaptive, I can't test Transparency settings as I only have 0.89 0n my laptop.
Otherwise possibly a bug in the new version.

Re: 0.91 beta 1 - Export dialog - Switching JPEG to GIF shows wrong preview image
I opened other pictures and get the same colour errors and a dark preview.
If I switch back from GIF tab to JPEG tab, the preview image will be correct.
I think switching from JPEG tab with colour mode "greyscale" to GIF tab with default colour mode "256" will produce a preview image with unknown default settings which do not match with the GIF tab settings.
Transparency is not used. Other dithering modes Floyed-Steinberg, etc. did not help.
