When rotating HEIC images the warning message:
"Be careful, saving in this format will discard any existing metadata"
is not shown (as it is when you try to save as HEIC in any other way).
If one changes the rotation without ever having tried to save with xnview as an heic before
the meta data are lost (without any warning). Luckily I have a backup.
Hope this may help others.

Re: HEIC Rotation - No Metadata Warning Message
Sorry, you are right. I am very new to XnView and wasn't aware that it could make a difference.
I installed the MP-version of xnview and I noticed the behavior with that version.
Can you move that thread or should I open another bug report in the other forum?

Re: HEIC Rotation - No Metadata Warning Message
I think that you try to rotate in browser view?
Pierre.
Re: HEIC Rotation - No Metadata Warning Message
Yes, a rotation in the browser view seems to save the file without the waring pop up message that the meta data will get lost.
This waring message appears only when you open the file (double click in browser view), rotate it from there and try to save afterwards.
This behavior is inconsistent and can't be as expected (since data loss appears when rotating HEIF from the browser view)

Re: HEIC Rotation - No Metadata Warning Message
Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.
Pierre.
Re: HEIC Rotation - No Metadata Warning Message
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.98.3. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
