Start random slide show on Linux (v 1.70)

Post by dietmarrudolph »

Hi!

I'm trying to reuse a very old laptop as a high-resolution picture frame. After several tries I finally found a Linux working correctly on this ex-Win95 machine (DSL) and an image software doing what I want (XnView).

Since the 1.70 Linux version lacks the 1.90 Windows option to create a SCR/EXE slide show, I need to automate starting the slide show. I have not been able to find out whether there are any startup parameters to be passed to XnView which allow me to immediately start a slide show of a given directory in random mode.

Can anyone of you guide me where to look? Thanks!

OK, I found it (almost)

xnview -slide <filename>.sld

requires a previously prepared sld file, though.

I second the request to pass a directory and other parameters.
