Complete XMP support

Post by Lapinoo »

For many file formats, all data that can not be stored in the file itself is stored in a sidecar XMP file. Those files contain IPTC data for RAW files or even Lightroom operation for any kind of file.

I would love that :
  • XnView reads the content of those files to show IPTC data for RAW files
  • XnView renames, deletes and moves those files when the image file is modified.

Could you send me a sample?

Hello,
Sidecar MIE file support is better ( EXIF - IPTC - XMP ... inside MIE)!

ExifTool GUI for Windows :

Like exiftool author said:
Use a MIE file instead. This file type stores meta information in native format for all information types...

XMP data to IPTC or IPTC2XMP:

It will be very usefull to have this support in XnView Pierre !

I vote for adding .MIE as a metadata export format for XnView across the board.

I also vote for adding Exiftool in some form to The Windows Native Versions. It's already in MP. If Audacity can have its ffmpeg, then XnView-Windows can certainly have ExifTool. I don't know if Audacity's author undertook to customize ffmpeg for his app, or if others did it for him, but however it was done, something like it should be done to "work" ExifTool "into" the Windows-native versions.
