I think, I am a "basic user". I want to double click the first picture in a folder to open XN in view mode and then jump to any picture in the folder.
May that be a weird approach - in older versions I'm able to open the options dialog and define the sort order here. In the later versions one can hunt all the options - the browser options included - in the mistaken belief that there MUST be a chance to configure that. But...alas!
Okay, one coud say now: "Ah, you are not a 'basic user', you are the most stupid user imaginable. Open the browser and define your sort order. Even you dumbo should be able to do so."
Yes, I am - now that I know it! It's annoying because I don't need that browser, but anyway.
What in my opinion is not quite brilliant, is that in the view mode XN persuades the view mode user of the impossibility to change the sort order to jump through the files.
