DDS Viewer

I have been testing/viewing DDS files with Xnview this week. While DDS Viewer (nicolasweber_gmx.de) was able to view most files, Xnview did not show/open particular DDS files. I'm not familiar with DDS internal file structures, so I was wondering if I could provide/upload a few of those as example for somebody to check out... and maybe allow Xnview to manage those files as well?! I like Xnview more since it shows DDS files (and others) in an Explorer-like interface.

You can upload some example files as attachments in a forum post, 1MB maximum file size per attachment, and you would need to put the DDS file or file(s) in a zip archive to be able to upload them.

Alternatively, you could upload example files to the cloud and provide download links, which would avoid the forum attachment size limit, if that should be an issue.

As suggested, I've attached 1 file which does not "show" in Xnview. It will open in DDS viewer though. This file is part of 3 files, nl:
weathered_rock_a_d.dds
weathered_rock_a_n.dds
weathered_rock_a_s.dds
There are many of those file combos, and if Xnview is able to show its content/info as well, then probably few will remain 'unseen'.

As a matter of fact, I'm currently using Xnview to find those files giving problems. So, yes, I browse through every folder to see which show or not. And since there are a lot of *_n.dds files, that means a lot of double-clicking.
if you need the other 2 as well, just let me know.

ps: if anyone knows of a commandline DDS tool that can provide DDS info and can be error-checked (batched), please let me know. Nvidia seems to have a [nvddsinfo] tool, but I can't seem to get my hands on it...

I tried to open the file with XnView and two plugins of TotalCommander (Imagine and DDS_DD_Plugin) - 1 x unknown, 2 x file error.

Have you checked "Sourceforge" for some tools?
http://sourceforge.net/directory/os:win ... ted/?q=dds

There are some entries, also "DDS Tools". But I have no idea what they are all doing.

@XnTriq
Thx for the references. And 'nvddsinfo' was exactly what I needed. I've attached my batchfile for anyone interested (incl nvddsinfo).
So, nvddsinfo is able to identify 'weathered_rock_a_n.dds' as well...

Thanks for making the batchfile available, Paul44 8)

I've since found the official download on Nvidia's site:
