How to make XnView default viewer in Win 10

Post by peterlonz »

I have used XnView for years; it's a great program!

Now i have "upgraded" to Win 10 (with Anniversary edn).
Now it seems I am unable to make XnView my default image viewer.

I have tried every way I can think of, but to no avail.

Please someone:
Is it possible to make it the default & If so how.

- Win10 Notifications Box in the bottom corner of the screen
- All Settings
- System
- Default Apps
- Change Photo Viewer to XnView

Sorry but I find Win10 extremely easy to use :)

Ckit,

Thanks,
Actually I feel rather stupid.
I laboured with this for ages but gave up in frustration.
Of course I tried your exact method initially & it failed, then the anniversary update & still no joy.
Then 20 mins after posting for help I tried again & it worked.
Don't ask me what or why, I can be rather one tracked in my thinking so maybe that's the problem

Regarding Win10 - it's not too bad but its not any faster than 7 in general use, & I have had to invest hours in learning a new approach to the simple stuff in 7 that I prob took for granted.
Any way, again thanks for taking the trouble.

Microsoft likes to enforce "their" default apps for most things in Win10, esp. Edge browser.
As time goes on it will get worse sadly but hey I'm up for the challenge of getting around whatever the design!
