How to recover missing data

Post by NormanW »

I have been using XnView for some time now and have added categories to several thousand photos over time.

At the weekend I had an issue with Windows 7 when the BOOTMGR file got corrupted. I have had to upgrade to Windows 10, which I now have up and running.

I have NOT lost any data because I have a separate drive for programmes and a separate drive for files, so I could do a clean install without losing anything.

Having reinstalled XnView, and got it working, I am unable to see any of the categories I have added to the photos. The categories are all listed, all the photos are still in the same place and are visible, and I have the former Windows 7 version of the programme complete. It is the data that is not being connected to the Win 10 version.

I wonder please, is there a way to tell the new version of XnView where to look for the photo data?

Thanks for reading.

XnView store rating/categories in category.db (user data folder)
