Prevent thumbnail view from changing when opening image

So, I have a folder with several folders within it. I use "Show all files (recursive)" because I want to see all files in all directories. That works wonderful. I double click (Or right click/open) any photo, and the photo opens, but the thumbnail view jumps to the folder the image is in. I dont' want that, the thumbnail view should stay where I self it unless I ask it to change.
There has to be a setting for this, but I have looked, and can't find it.
