Re: Icons
To be honest I don't like these new icons. I think the new icons are too clean, if you compare the forum logo shown at the top left of each forum page and the icon drafts of Mezich, you can see what I mean. Currently I see no reason to change the icon at all.xnview wrote:Do you like it?
All in all I doubt that you can make an icon that is very close to the existing ones and better at the same time. A brand new design (e.g. the design of XnView DeLuxe) might work.
We had quite a number of discussion regarding icons, see topics

- Iconset for XnView 1.81
- Iconset for XnView 1.75

Also agree. I'm no pro, but i've made quite a few icons for personal use. I've tried to make the xnview icon "better" but the truth is the icon (logo) itself is too "busy" to be made looking any better than it allready is. The logo in it's full size looks very nice (like the size on this forum in the upper left corner) but when it's resized to the size of an icon most of the details are lost..
I'm currently using the beautifull icon of xnview deluxe which, to me at leat, has a cool, modern look, and looks great on my desktop.

You said "it's XnView DELUXE", so it can't be XnView, it's XnView DELUXE.VuDu wrote:yes it is... it's XnView DELUXE... wich is good, deluxe is always good heeh
Maybe too modern for me. And too colorful.VuDu wrote:I agree the deluxe icon looks way more modern.
What about my old suggestion - multiple icons, old xnview light (for darker backgrounds), dark (for lighter backgrounds) and maybe also deluxe? For titlebar, taskbar, alt+tab dialog, desktop icon, quick launch icon...??

Take a look at the most recent windows vista screenshots:
http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/album ... ?cat_id=23
do you really think the current xnview icon-set will fit into this modern environment, full of transparency, light, shadows and most of them fully 3D!?
Honestly... take a look at this:

honestly ppl! Windows 95 and 98 are dead! And windows XP is on it's way too. Check out last windows vista and linux distros screenshots with recent desktop environments!

Just some more screenshots to reinforce my point. This time, the upcoming Office 2007 new icons:

XnView present icons stand nowhere near this quality!!

I might agree with VuDu, though the matter is not of high priority.
Anyway, this thread is fairly intresting (CrystalClear Skin):

Really nice icons for XnView, but still in the process.
