Hello there.
Everything is in the title. I run Win 7 sp2 64.
Whenever i browse a folder containing an mp4 file, XnView crashes.
If i browse icons, that's fine. But as soon as thumbnails are involved, kaboom...
Can anyone confirm that ?

What do you mean with sending you a sample ?
You mean an mp4 file that causes the trouble ?
I've got to find one which size is smaller than 100's of Mo !
I'll come to you later.
About Quicktime: it is installed on my system, yes.

OK, here is a file that freezes my xnView:
http://glp.lescigales.org/divers/essai.mp4
It's a short extract recorded via VLC as mp4.
When that thing is in a folder, browsing the folder with thumbnails crashes XnView. Browsing without thumbnails, but with icons is OK.
Do you have the same behaviour with .mp4 ?

Re: XnView freezes when browsing folder containing .mp4 file
Hard to tell: when i open QuickTime's control panel and press "about", it says QuickTime version 0,0 (!)
It is a 32 bits version, and it's not QuickTime Pro.
EDIT: CCleaner tells me it is version 7.71.80.42
But there's an interesting element: there are 6 tabs there, and when i open the "audio" tab, the control panel freezes and crashes too.
I'll try an update/re-install and come back to you.
Thanks M. XnView !
EDIT 2 : No, the version i had was the last one. I downloaded the installer from apple, it performed a repair, and it still is exactly the same 7.71.80.42 and freezes when touching the "audio" tab.And the problem is still there in XnView.

Interesting. xnView stable now than QuickTime is uninstalled.
How did you know it had something to do with QuickTime ?
I'll try to re-install is right now.
EDIT: Indeed !
Completely uninstalled and re-installed QuickTime and all is fine now.
Dear xnView, you're the man !
Thanks a lot man, I'd never have thought of QuickTime !

Re: [SOLVED]XnView freezes browsing folder containing .mp4 f
I get problems witn xnview with most videos. Videos are mjpeg from my DSLR or avchd from my P&S. The thumb will either load and hang, or not load and crash.
I end up disabling thumbs, even then SOME files make it crash, some don//t. ie if I have 10 files from avchd from my P&S in 10 folders, maybe 2-3 folders will crash xnview, the others will be fine, and can even play.

Re: [SOLVED]XnView freezes browsing folder containing .mp4 f
Hello every one,
It is good that issue was resolved for some but it certainly is not resolved in my case. I can confirm I regularly experience exactly same behavior as is described here. I did not have QuickTime installed at all and yet it did freeze every time I run into MP4 file whenever I was progressing through a folder containing mixed JPG and MP4 files. Yesterday, I have installed latest version of QuickTime to no remedy – it still freezes. My setup is listed here:
Windows 8 Pro x64
XnView 1.99.6 English
I love XnView, it is definitely best viewer out there but this bug is really annoying and destroys otherwise pleasant experience.
Best regards,
Jan Sichula
