XnView Software

This is an old bug but it's not "very important" so I never report this.
But since now Xnview is perfect I want to point out this little bug too.

When I enter a folder for the first time with Xnview the order of the images is never the one I set up.

Example. I tell Xnview to order the images by "date". Xnview order all the pictures by date correctly.
Now I go to another folder for the first time! Xnview build all the thumbnails but the order is random! I have to click F5 to refresh the windo and now Xnview order the thumbnails in the "date" order correctly.
This only happen the I see a folder for the first time. Once the thumbnails are created everytime I enter that folder the order is always correct.

Only the first time I enter in a folder with Xnview the thumbnails are in a weird order. F5 solve the problem but it's annoying to always click F5.

you use 'Sort by date' and first time in browser, the order is not good?

Yes. Every time I open a folder for the first time in Xnview the order is always wrong! I click F5 and the order is correct.
If instead I open a folder that I already have opened in the past then the order is always correct.
Xnview doesn't order the thumbnails while is creating them. Not even at the end of the creation process. I had to refresh manually with F5.

The type of order is not relevant. If I choose "by date" or "by width" or "by type" nothing change. When I open a folder for the first time the order is always wrong.

could you send me a folder with 2/3 picture files that reproduce this problem?

There is no reason to send pictures. This bug happens every time. With any kind of pictures, in any kind of folder.

Do this:
Put lots of jpg in a new folder.
Open xnview set it to order the picture by width (or whatever you prefer)
Open the folder you created before with Xnview.
Xnview start creating all the thumbnails. When it has finished to create the thumbnail the order is wrong! Is random I think.
If now you click F5 to refresh the order is correct.
If now you exit the folder and enter in it again the order is always correct.

The bug happens only the first time Xnview enter a folder and creates all the thumbnail.

If you delete the cache of the thumbnails and anter that folder again the bug happen again.

I also resetted Xnview but nothing change.
I'm on Windows7 64bit 8bg ram.

i can reproduce for 'sort by width'

For me it happens for every kind of order! By type, by size, etc. The order is never correct until I click F5 or I exit and re-enter the folder!

A simple solution coulb be an automatic refresh when the creation of thumbnails is finished! This could solve the problem immediately.
But I'm not a programmer...so maybe I say just a stupid thing.
