In search of a font viewer

Post by Troken »

Dear XnView users,

I am in search of a free and smart Font Viewer/Utility which can display not only TrueType fonts, but also Open Type and Type 1 fonts. I have stumble across some, but there are so many, which do you recommend? Any tips are welcomed!

"The font thing" seems to be popular, but only True Type fonts im afraid...

Thank you! Linotype FontExplorer X seems intresting. The others lack some things though. Found AMP Font Viewer, supports all types of fonts.

Troken, you should also take a look at NexusFont.

A really fine and small standalone freeware from Korea.
English and German language files are included.

By far the nicest interface, looks really nice and easy. And its quick! To bad it does not seem to handle Type1-fonts (PS fonts).

Now, after testing a couple of free viewers, AMP is my recommendation (it seems to display all font types).

This one works well for quick reference purposes: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/fontselector.html
It sits in your systray & lets you quickly browse through samples of your installed fonts to find the one you want. Not sure wheather or not it works for anything other than TTF ones though.

NexusFont 2 rc3 supports Type1 fonts now, at last! So now this font manager is by far the best free font manager, highly recommended. Very easy and intuitive, try it!

Hawkeye Font Browser
Free, small, no install required font viewer. Only minus for me is that it's an .NET application.
