*** 1.82 Beta is now available, see topic XnView 1.82 Beta ***

____________________________________________________________

Hello,

an Alpha version is available to show the current progress of the new release. This version is very likely to be unstable (GPFs, unexpected behaviour, ...) and still under heavy development. So please do not report bugs, GPFs, or other problems. Later, Beta versions for beta testing and Release Candidates for final testing will be made available.

Important Notes:
+ Normal users should use the current Final version of XnView, which is version 1.80.3. Please see topic XnView 1.80.3 for details.
+ Download portals and websites must link to final versions of XnView only, and in no case link to this Alpha version.

About Option/Browser/Filter & File list
In this version "File List/Items shown in thumbnail/other mode" is no more used.

And Filter is not the final version. I think that this panel is not good, too many checkbox.
And you can see that i use "Exclude list", i've tried many different choice.
And Include or Exclude are difficult to understand. Exclude list is better because by default Images shown PDF files, so it's easy to exlude PDF/EPS files. But it's not consistent with other checkbox.

Thanks for all the good work Pierre. Right now I'm manipulating important images for my thesis project so I think I'll keep using the stable build. I'd gladly partake in some testing later if that could help =)

Thank you, Pierre, for providing the Alpha. The 4 in 1 folder looks really good. :-)

Just to let everybody know... the link for the Alpha version in the first post saves a corrupt zip, or is it just me?

A question, also, should I succeed in getting the alpha ;) : does it work alongside 1.80.3 or not? I'm especially talking about the catalog cache.

I've just downloaded the ZIP archive and it worked fine. Please try again, perhaps a corrupted download.

XnView 1.82 Alpha is a single program file which you save in any directory and start. You could have even two program files (with different file names) located in the same directory, but I do not recommend this since both programs will use the same xnview.ini files and you might "spoil" your settings.

And better---

:) Hello !

• Yes, right. It's the minimal precaution to take…

• Moreover, in addition I would recommend -if possible- to install the Alpha in a directory set in another drive where not any XnView folder exists formerly.
- This should avoid to get the same Favourite Folders than the normal current version, whether you install the Alpha in the same drive, even in a quite different directory. I noticed that inconvenience already here (§ 2.) and expressed a wish for an improvement… “Strike while the iron is hot:wink:

I've been using this new alpha version for almost 3 weeks. So far, I can tell it's perfect. I don't encounter any bug or problem. I don't know if it's a placebo effect or not but I feel it works faster.

*WOW* RAW-Support is sooooo much faster than in 1.80.3 :)
Goodbye ACDSee!!!

Some Questions...

- Do you have a timeline on 1.82?

- If 1.82 is final when will it go in the DeLuxe-Version?

Thanx in advance :)
