Search Criteria Exclude

When performing a Search (Ctrl-F), it would be extremely helpful to be able to enter criteria to exclude data.

For example, currently the only options that are available are "is any of" and "contains" as shown in the following image:

An example of exclusions can be seen in the Smart Playlists of the Clementine music player (which is open source and multi-platform):

I have categories of images that I typically don't want to see, but I also don't want to delete. These images are interspersed with all of my other "good" images that I typically want to work with. I want to quickly exclude these based on several exclusion criteria.

Dear kbezold,

Welcome among us!

Most probably nobody responded because your request is quite clear and it isn't first time when we have it. However, thumbs up for the screenshot from Clementine.

Most probably that in a future version we'll have it. (what you're requesting is easy to implement either via SQL either via negating a boolean var resulted from an existing code).

However, take care that "Exclude" does not exists. :)

As you can see in your own screenshot the correct way to implement what you want is via "does not contain" and "not equals".

Same request in Mantis

...just to note: The Categories Tree from Categories Filter pane should be removed.

The correct way to do it is to add the checkboxes (IOW the filtering capabilities) to the Categories Pane because there we have all the necessary tooling for searching etc.
