Suggestion: what about providing a snap package? This could perhaps even replace the .deb and .rpm packages.
Here's a yaml file to build one for the current release:

However I can't get the start menu entry to work right now.

For some, maybe. The main difference is that snap is a system-agnostic package manager so snap has to be installed.

Please do either keep the .deb or think about flatpak (which is already included in Linux Mint). I'd not like to be forced to install snap besides the preinstalled flatpak just to use XnViewMP...

I have created flatpak packages for XnView MP, XnConvert, XnSketch and XnRetro.

Snap is better than Appimage?
Hello! Today I discovered this application and it saved my day with a work-related issue. Thank you very much! However, I was wondering if XnView Software could be packaged as a Snap. I usually don't install things like .deb anymore to keep the operating system as clean as possible for future version upgrades. There's always the App Image option, of course, but I think a Snap would be more beneficial and would give you visibility in the Ubuntu Store. I know that Snap had a bad reputation in the past, but today it works very well and I believe it is the default way Ubuntu users install most applications.
Thank you very much. It's just a suggestion. Maybe it's a bit selfish on my part
