1.8.1 – grey nav arrows after save as

Post by Kadet »

Windows 11

If I open the image and do "Save as", after saving both navigation arrows are grey and of course don't work. Keyboard arrows works.

Thank you for your quick response and sorry, but now is a new bug.

I have settings that a new file "Save As" landing on top. This means that there are no other files to the left of the new file, and meanwhile after using the Save As function, an active arrow appears to the left and an inactive gray arrow appears to the right. It should be vice versa.

When you 'save as' it in an empty folder, you have active for previous and greyed for next?

sorted by Created date (Descending)?
double check that dates are correct, maybe you deleted old test file and saved a new one under the same name (ref file system tunnelling)

the only issue I have with - filelist index in statusbar always show max/max after Save as
to reproduce
0. have 3 files in folder (1.png, 2.png, 3.png)
default sorting setting - by Name (Ascending)
1. open 2.png in Viewer
2. save as 0.png
file will be saved
current position in filelist updated to 1st
statusbar index will show 4/4

No. File name is new, random text. Sorted by Date (Desc) and new file go top (default is bottom).

And me too show max/max.
And now I see the next bug(??). In this folder MS File Explorer say I have 482 image/movie files and not subfolders, XnV tab browser say 482, but XnV view tab say max 479 files. Where is 3 files? I check a few other folders and all is OK. Strange.

[edit]
These 3 files are mkv movies. If I open in tab mkv I see 482 files, but when I open image I see 479 files.

1. In [Settings] (File list?) set OFF New file add on end.
2. In [Browser window] set sort file by Date with new file on top (first).
3. [Open] some image
4. [Save As] with new name (no matter codec)
And now is this bug.

Descending order?

Ok, previous button is enabled, and next is disabled. It's normal the current file is now the new file, and there is no file after this file's date.

Forgive me, but please think about it again. After the operation [Save as] the new file is on top in the first position, i.e. on the left there is not a single image, but the arrow in the picture shows that there is something. Similarly, the rights arrow shows that there is nothing there, but that's where the rest of the pictures. I have to mark that the keyboard work correctly, i.e. when I press the key to the right, the picture on the right will be shown (as it could be seen in the browser window). The right arrow to click the mouse now is gray and I can't see the next picture, like I see after pressing the keyboard.

If you have 1.jpg & 2.jpg, and open 1.jpg, you save as 3.jpg, so now the file list is [1.jpg, 2.jpg, 3.jpg] and the current is 3.jpg so no next file
If you to stay on 1.jpg, use 'save a copy'

ok, I can reproduce
for OP's issue (A) its even not required to change default sorting order

sorting - Name asc (default)
to reproduce
0. prerequisites
- have 1 file in folder (1.png)
- uncheck ☐ New files are added at the end of the list
as far as I understand this setting is only for Browser's filelist and should not affect Viewer's filelist

issue A - Save as
correct behavior (no Browser tab)
1. open 1.png via double-click in win file explorer
2. press Ctrl+Shift+S and Save as 0.png in the same folder
filelist will be auto-updated and 0.png will be positioned at 1/2 - OK

1. open folder in Browser (required)
2. double-click 1.png to open it in Viewer
3. press Ctrl+Shift+S and Save as 0.png in the same folder
Viewer filelist will not be auto-sorted, 0.png will remain at 2/2
4. press F5 in Browser
0.png will move to 1st position - OK
5. press Ctrl+R in Viewer to reload image
Viewer filelist will not update, 0.png will remain at 2/2
note: it may require to repeat step 3 few times (delete 0.png and repeat)
expected behviour
after step3 - autosort filelist and place 0.png at 1/2

issue B - Save a copy
1. open 1.png via double-click in win file explorer
2. press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S and Save a copy as 0.png in the same folder
filelist will be partially updated, 1.png will remain at 1/2
3. press Ctrl+R to reload image
1.png will be positioned at 2/2 - OK
