XNView MP and Mac OS 11.3.1 Crashing

Post by JWidrig57 »

I recently upgraded to MacOS 11.3.1 and am finding that XNView MP 0.98.3 will not run. The software loads but then immediately get the spinning color wheel and have to force quit.

Is this a common bug and is there a fix?

I am having the same exact problem. When I click to open the program it starts to load then I get the spinning wheel. Sometimes after restarting Xnview it will open but not normally.

My bad, my version of the Mac is 10.13.6 High Sierra but I have the same problem. Most of the time I get the spinning wheel when clicking the MP icon to open the software. Once in a while, the program will open but not normally. Hope this helps. I have tried reinstalling the software but get the same results.

Not normally meaning that once in awhile the program will load and work as it is supposed to...most of the time just as the program looks like it is going to load I get the spinning wheel and eventually have to force quit the program.

That is correct. This happens with the newest version of Xnview MP. I have tried removing it and then reinstalling but unfortunately get the same results. Just as the program looks like it is going to work the spinning wheel begins and I have to force quit it.

If you reinstall previous version, it works?

Yes, when I install the older version the program works. It is only with the 98.4 version that it does not. Hope this helps.

When I start the program Xnview MP the program opens up and for a quick second I can see the folders, etc. Then it locks up and the Mac spinning ball appears. I then have to force quit Xnview MP.

Are you able to start XnView in an empty folder?
