Hi,
How can I apply categories to an exported image without changing the original image?
I have an original image with categories in the XMP and database (not in the picture itself!).
But when I export this image with batch processing, the new image does not contain any categories.
The information from the XMP or the database will not be transferred to the new image.
And yes, "Create XMP data" and "Create IPTC data" are off because that would otherwise change my original image.
Is there a way to change that?

You need to disable 'Export DB Category'mcbrx wrote: How can I apply categories to an exported image without changing the original image?
Batch convert doesn't use this setting (only when setting categories). You would like to change XMP categories with batch convert? But when I export this image with batch processing, the new image does not contain any categories.

Re: Category export from the database
Ok, but I had already tried that, it makes no difference.xnview wrote:You need to disable 'Export DB Category'
No, at this point I do not want to change the categories.xnview wrote:You would like to change XMP categories with batch convert?
I have already assigned the categories before, but only in the database.
The categories should simply be written from the database to a newly exported image (JPG).
The problem is that categories are only exported (with batch convert) if they already exist in the original image.
But an original image should never be changed.
(Maybe a new action in batch convert, "Add metadata from database" ..)
Thanks!
Re: Category export from the database
so you would like to write in XMP data or sidecar the categories from catalog to the file?
Pierre.
Re: Category export from the database
Hi,
XMP data or sidecar - that does not matter (optionally both).
The main thing is that the categories are transferred to the new file.
Thanks!

new file? you associate categories on a file with catalog, and you want to associate another file with same categories?mcbrx wrote:XMP data or sidecar - that does not matter (optionally both).

Re: Category export from the database
Hi,
Example:
50 original pictures, >6GByte, that's too much!
With the batch convert I want to make smaller pictures out of the 50 original pictures (for web gallery, tablet or ..) ..
Everything is wonderful, but unfortunately XnViewMP does not export the categories from the database ..
yes, the new file is based on the original image (both JPG).xnview wrote:new file? you associate categories on a file with catalog, and you want to associate another file with same categories?
