XnviewMP starting very slow

Post by crimle »

I am an enthusiastic Xnview user. I had Xnview installed and now I am trying XnviewMP. The program looks quite good, but there is one issue: the program is starting ver, very slow indeed. I double-click a very small image (jpg, 5 KB) and it will be displayed after ~7 seconds. The old Xnview was much faster. The same image was displayed by Xnview after 1 or 2 seconds.

Kind regards
Christof

It's a known issue, due to the need to load the Qt framework software used, Pierre is checking to see if there is a solution...

Hi, I'm having the same problem, f I run the app it start fast but when I click on a file in explorer then I get a delay in the start of 3 or 4 sec. I noticed this since v0.86, now I'm using v0.92 on Windows 7 64bit and the issue persist.

And if you start XnViewMP, and open your file with File>Recent files, slow too?

The program starts relatively fast (less than 2 sec) no matter how much files are in the starting folder BUT when it start in browser mode the main pane (the one with the thumbnails) appears always empty, I've to press enter so the program proceed to scan the folder (this could be another bug)

Do you have always old version like 0.84 to test?

Yes, I uninstalled v0.92 and installed v0.84 and it works perfect, as fast as it should be. The problem must have been added in later versions :|

Yes, I see this phenomena on Win7 SP1 x64 if one or more USB pen not recognized - Zentimo wrote "Device connected, but don't have media". Also this phenomena freeze's startup Far Manager if settings "Check removable device" is set to ON. For resolving this problem mast have admins right and use any Registry editor or NirSoft USBDeview tool and find and delete incorrect device enters (since these items are in one of the OS startup keys, I don’t specifically name them so that newbies couldn’t make even more problems).
