Pictures are correctly sorted by ratio, but the "displayed ratio type" needs to be specified.
In default thumbnails view, ratios are always greater than 1, xnviewmp divides the largest value by the smallest .

Go to Settings, (Browser), Thumbnails, Labels.
Add a Custom label with the arrow.
Select this custom label. At the bottom of the window, you can edit it
Use ">>" button
Select "Image", and "Ratio Width/Height"

In the browser there is an option View > Sort by -- Ratio , does that enable you to see what you need?

"Filter" is different from "Sort"
If you want to filter ratios, use Tools, Search, ... and add a condition
The only ratios you can filter are shown in the picture below.

If you want to filter other values, the only method is to sort photos by ratios, look for the ones you want, tag them, and then , filter with tags. (right click)

Thank you.
Yes it works, but I want pictures in a range between 1.4 to 1.6.
Otherwise I get just the right ratios: 1.4, 1.5, 1.6. or something like attachment.

If you often use this query on large amounts of photos, you can :
- select all photos and create a file list (Create, File listing)
- define the (pattern) (template) for this list, something like {Directory}{Filename With Ext},{RatioWH} (use comma or semicolon as separator)
- sort and filter this list in Excel or Calc, and save the result (MyListRatio.txt) with csv format
- open this filtered file list in Xnviewmp (File, Open file list...)

Otherwise, use the other method I specified, with tags, tagging can be used with a right clic.

I'm using a category ( a IPTC keyword) for panoramic photos.
Maybe you can use some categories for further searches (verywide, wide, normal, narrow, square, vertical ...)?
