Category File property update when moving file to another folder
Hi,
I have a temporay folder to store all picture until I categorize them.
I assign category(ies) to each picture and then use the drag and drop to move them to dedicated final folder.
When browsing thanks to the filters category, I see only empty vignette : the file name is correct but the property/file/repertoiry is the old one (ie the temporary one).
The bug looks similar to the Issue 1305.
Is there a workaround to manually update the folder name in the db so that I do not loose the time spent to classify ?
thanks for your work anyway!

you have moved files inside XnView?
you can use settings>catalog>relocate

Re: Category File property update when moving file to another folder
I used drag & drop in XnView mp.
when copiing back the files manually (ie out of xnview) , all looks good again.
seems the database is not updated with new path when doing Drag & Drop

This is strange because the catalog is updated when you copy/move files. Are you able to reproduce? Do you drag&drop from thumbnail view into folder view?

Alt+m works for all kind of files but is slow and not intuitive(I think it is only in this situation it updates db). Drag and paste seems sometimes to work(1%) and mostly they don't. Some jpgs works only because of all these tags u can embed in them. All the categories stays in the old folder while pic is moved to new location. It is kind of separated.
Updated just today.
Can't see any other software that is suitable for me in this case so.. I will stick to this one and wait.
Installed update in the same place as old old version was.

Mhm. Or actually they are kept in the old folder with 0kb file.. so if I move it back then they are attached back to the file. I had a lot of struggle and there is that thing that makes separate file but then it feels cluttered.xnview wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:27 amCategories are not kept?AdorableWolf wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:58 am Drag and paste seems sometimes to work(1%) and mostly they don't.
So yeah. I struggled to move files inside the app itself.

Just a slight update: I've run this: View -> Update catalogue from files. It seems like all the categories are holding together. Even after a restart. Can someone explain me what the app didn't do that before for me(the update of files)? I had to find it and click it myself.xnview wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 10:27 amCategories are not kept?AdorableWolf wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:58 am Drag and paste seems sometimes to work(1%) and mostly they don't.

Yeah, but how it is that it resolved that issue? I don't fully understand what that command do towards that issue.xnview wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 8:42 amSo the categories are good now?AdorableWolf wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 9:39 pm Just a slight update: I've run this: View -> Update catalogue from files.
