How do I Make the Shortcut Thumbnails Look Better?

When i change to thumbnail view, the folders with Costumized thumbnails look fine, but the ones with a shortcut customized thumbnail look bad.
Is there a way to fix this or is it a Windows problem.

how do you customize thumbnails?
