4k video playback stuttering & sound out of sync

Post by xton »

Hi!

The playback of 4k videos using XnView (32 bit or 64 bit) is not working well (see attached screen shot for video codec info). Neither in the preview pane nor when double clicking the video.
The video stutters (seems to play with less than half fps) and the sound is out of sync.

Same videos are played fluently when using other players such as e.g. VLC.

I cross-checked 2k videos done with the same camera, same codec (i.e. with the exception of the video and buffer resolutions, VLC shows exact the same codec information): they play well in XnView MP (32 bit and 64 bit).

So there seem to be two problems:

First, XnView does no seem to handle videos as efficient as other players do. It has less performance than e.g. VLC.

Second, when the video framerate cannot be reached, frames should be dropped correctly so that image and sound keep in sync.

If you have installed codecs, you can try them

Code: Select all

useInternalVideoPlayer=false

Hi!

With that setting, XnView MP does not play anything at all and XnView MP 32 crashes.
