Yes, select the parent folder in folders pane so that sub folders are displayed in the browser.
Here, select one or more folders, right click, edit comment...
For mass editing of descriptions, I generally add a x for all subfolders this way, then I edit descript.ion file with a text editor to add specific description on each one...

Re: Comment / description for a folder ?
Hello Michel,
Thanks for your reply.
When applying a comment to folders with your steps, nothing happens... no creation/updating of descript.ion file!
- How does a folder comment look like in a descript.ion file ?
- When it exists, where this folder comment is displayed inside of XnViewMP ?
Thanks for listening
XnviewMP 1.3.1, win 11

Re: Comment / description for a folder ?
Hello,
Thanks again Michel for your exhaustive review of Comments uses in XnviewMP
To complete your review : Comment folder seems also to be visible by default in the tooltip when hovering above a folder.
I finally understood that a folder comment is not saved in the descript.ion of the concerned folder, but in the one of the parent folder.... !!
Things work as expected.
Merci beaucoup !
