Multi-core folder thumbnails generation

Which settings are useful towards speeding up folder thumbnails generation? I have a 12 core processor, I'm eager to see it flex its power to speed through this process. It would be ideal if quality did not degrade, however. Is that asking the impossible or is this dream just a matter of settings somewhere? Thank you very much for your time, guys.
