counting images

Post by faro347 »

Is there a way to see how many images are located in my files without my counting each one separately. This would be a big time saver when I have two files that might have the same images in them, put there by mistake. I am using XnView on a mac desktop with m1 chip. Thanks

Browser > Edit menu > Select all images
1. assign Shortcut to this command, eg CTRL+I as in ACDSee
2. press Shortcut key(s) when in folder
check "selected objects'" counter in status bar

A useful workaround, but if the count can be easily added to the default interface that would probably be better?

Thanks for the info, but I am unable to create a shortcut even though it appears that I have done that. But why would I need to creat a shortcut after I selected all the images? Shouldn’t that enable me to click “selected objects” in the status bar? It would be great to add the counting ability as a default.

I don't have a simple solution that I'm happy with.
Also, keep in mind, the next thing that will be suggested - add counters for:
- tagged files
- folders

you do not need to; there are 2 options, you may use any of them

no, clicking on statusbar should not select anything

Again, thanks for trying to be helpful. But I am still at sea with this. Perhaps in the next iteration of XnView there will be a way to have a one-click count of the images in my folders. Like the software very much; my post was a thought that occurred when I wondered if there is a button that I was missing to give me an image count. Keep up the good work.

I have an idea how to fit stats into the statusbar - move it to the right side
- as it does not fit left side logically when there are selected objects
- so it does not overwhelm left side

Browser mode
statusbar_folder_stats.png
  • left side
    • truncate 'object(s) selected' to 'selected'
  • right side
    • move from left side
      - free disk space
    • add counters (current folder stats)
      can be represented by icons
      - folders
      - files (not shown)
      - images
      - tagged
Viewer mode
StatusBar - viewer - move position/selection to the right

ps. also I would align items to grid to fix their position (A)
