I'm not sure whether this can easily go into the software or whether it should be a separate tool like XnConvert was split out.
I'd like to suggest some enhancements on the slide show option. I imagine its window would become something similar to the batch convert window.
Presets: allow saving presets and loading in exactly the same way as the batch convert
Audio: allow us to create a list of music that can be used with all slide shows, this could be as simple as pointing to a folder. This folder would have subfolders which represent the genres of the music and then the music files inside. You would simply replicate this structure in the window
Visual: You actually already have much of the options in the existing slideshow window
---
That is really all you need to make this usable as a primary slideshow software. in addition you might consider the following:
---
Motion: a bit of Ken burns effects in the transitions? they're a bit static at the moment
Template slides: ability to either have predefined files which we can add at the start and end of our slide show. you would add them into a list from which you can select them
you would be able to build a slideshow by saying use template one, and then all of the actual content we selected, and then template 2 - kind of like the actions pane in the batch convert
E.g. we might have a welcome slide (jpg file) at the start, the content, and a logo at end.
Text layer: possibly add the option to add the client's name to the first slide. i.e. "Welcome <name>" or it could just be like the text action in the batch convert.
This would actually help a lot of photographers who are currently being threatened with a $600 a year subscription for software they have purchased outright already.
I'm happy to help with explaining more about how this would be used.

Re: Slideshow enhancements with presets
I've looked at a few different software that have more slideshow features. I see some ways that this can be added here with minimal changes to code and UI. Feel free to reach out if you want to discuss ideas. It seems there is really not a lot out there which does everything well, I think this is an opportunity to get a step ahead.
Eg some do soft slideshow as well but not good with image viewing
some have half a gigabyte program size which is just ridiculous
