Once I have "Added text" (Image-Add text) , how am I to edit or remove that text ?
Assume there is an easy trick for this, but regretfully I haven't found it.
Thanks

Sorry but you can't. 'Add text' write the text in the picture

Hello !
• As
Pierre said above, the added text becomes part of the image…
- You could use for instance
GFIE (Freeware) to
edit the pic and remove the text part by repainting it
with the background colour.
- That's easy with a plain BG, but could be ticklish in other cases (pattern BG)…

Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for your feedback. Maybe, one time in future, it will be possible.
Create a textblock, edit text, fontsize, bla bla.
Once done, then 'melt / burn / fasten whatever' it into the picture.
Same goes for things like arrows, etc.
No criticism, just a thought...

NO.
Editing text is perfectly possible for analytical based images (CAD / schematic) and other documents (
PDF, HTML), where text is stored as text.
After adding text into BMP, PNG, GIF(obsolete), JPG(lossy) etc. images the text is converted into a bitmap and it unrecoverably damages the background. To remove it from pictures or videos, tricks (not supported by XN/NC for now) can be used attempting to "find" the text and "guess" the background, but results are not perfect.
Note that such requests frequently generate rude answers like "you are not supposed to remove copyright strings from other people's pictures, nobody here will help you with such activity".
To edit such text, OCR would be needed.

Maybe ... but you won't be able to save the image before 'melt / burn / fasten whatever' ing the text (except PNG format maybe).

There are actually two methods of adding text to an image in XnView:
- Image » Add Text...
- Filter » Paint
Text added with the
Paint add-on can be edited (
Modify...), you can move it around on the canvas via drag & drop, you can change its stacking order (
Move to front/
Move to back), and you can remove it (
Delete).
