Defaults for Mouse

In XnView, we have:
Left button => Make selection
Right button => Move picture
Mouse wheel => Zoom
In XnViewMP, we have
Left button => Move picture
Left button + CTRL => Make selection
Right button => Move picture
Right button + CTRL => Nothing
Mouse wheel => previous/next file
Mouse wheel + CTRL => Zoom in/out
Many new users complain about new default for left button, what would like be the best?
I think that we must have "Left button => Make selection"

And "Left button + CTRL => Move Picture"?

For me, the default behavior for both (XnViewMP & XnView):
"Left button => Make selection"
"Left button + CTRL => "I do not know"

Already discussed here:
http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.p ... 9&p=118675
There are some contradicting forces in our situation:
1. The default behavior of
XnView.
2. The default behavior of everything else:
XnView MP, FastStone, Lr, Zoner, FastPictureViewer, ACDSee etc.
The "Make selection" (default in
XnView) - low importance feature since the only real thing which you can do with it is Crop. (ok, I know - sometimes important) but the crowd which wants to do a Pan/Zoom navigation (see for ex. FastStone from the bunch of programs which I mentioned above) is much more widely used than rectangular non-feathering selection in a Picture Browser/Manager like
XnView MP.
That's why I would vote to keep the defaults as they are (perhaps a little bit wording improvement is needed). Optionally in the Setup Wizard and/or in Tools | Options an 'Use
XnView Classic Defaults' button should be provided.

I am sure than a standardization is needed for both
XnView & XnViewMP

... after that, this is a democratic vote, so make your vote

Sure.
But as I said, the standard should be the one which all the other programs have.

Currently i receive many emails from users, they want to make a selection with left button, and don't understand why it's with CTRL

That's I proposed an upgrade option: to take care of the users of
XnView Classic. Mind you, you must keep them of course, but more important is to bring new blood to the community.

Yes, but the question remains ... which one? ... the easier and faster way is probably to use, in a first step, the "
XnView classic" standard.
