Re: XnView Shell Extension
I hate to be stupid, but just how do I get the Shell Extension to work. I downloaded and installed the 64 bit version as I have Windows 7 64 bit. Aren't I supposed to see file icons for WPG files in Windows Explorer just like I do for JPG or GIF files, etc.? I even have WPG files associated with XnView... Is the only way to see them to right click and select XnView?
Thanks for the help.

Re: XnView Shell Extension
The XnView Shell extension extends the Windows Explorer. When installed properly, you will see a thumbnail when right clicking on a file in Windows Explorer, just like it is shown in the original post. Additionally, various actions are available which can be performed on the selected image.lochkelly wrote:I hate to be stupid, but just how do I get the Shell Extension to work. After downloading the XnView Shell extension, you have to register it. To register, double-click on the file "register.bat" and registration is performed (you will need admin rights).
Re: XnView Shell Extension
I noticed some interesting thing regarding the XnView Shell Extension Preview.
It shows parts of a picture that has been cropped(!) before.
The picture I got is cut out from a bigger one. A portrait.
But when I look at it in shell extension, i see the whole(!) original picture. But only there.
Where is this "missing" data stored, and can I reproduce the total picture?
Thank you very much!

How to open embedded cover from mp3 file through xnview shell ext file menu in xnview? It opens audio file, not the image.
Re: XnView Shell Extension
Solved my problem with XnView Shell. I have Windows 7 x64. After install XnView, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Graph\XnView\XnShellEx and run unregister.bat. Then delete folder XnShellEx. Now download http://download.xnview.com/XnShellEx64.zip and unzip it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Graph\XnView\. And finally run register.bat in XnShellEx64.
Hope it help to someone)

Re: XnView Shell Extension
The shell extension hasn't been working for me for ages now - I see now that it's probably because of my change over to x64 Windows 7 some time ago. I've now attempted to install the 64-bit shell extension, after successfully unregistering the 32-bit version, but attempts to register the 64-bit version using the bat file (contents: regsvr32 "XnViewShellExt64.dll")just get an error message, telling me that the dll had been loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer had failed, with error code 0x80070005 - so I'm still without XnShell function. I'm currently using Win8 x64.
