Browsing Pics on Android phone directly

Post by paulba »

Hi,

Is there any way to look at the pics on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) direcly from my desktop with XnView?

I can browse the location in XnViews browser but it wont show anything.

This goes the same with Shell, no option to view.

Windows 7 64 SP1, XnView 2.05

When connecting your Android device with the PC, an MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) connection is established. This connection allows for exchanging files given that the software supports this protocol, only.
Wikipedia wrote:"By design, MTP devices (like PTP devices) are not treated as a traditional removable drive."
That's the reason why neither Windows Explorer nor XnView can access the image files on your Android phone directly.

This is not difficult to do at all, as we have 2 alternative methods to force the Samsung Galaxy S2 to enter in USB mass storage mode after connecting to computer.

Method 1
1 -Enable usb debugging from Menu > Settings > Applications
2 -return to home screen
3 -plug usb cable in
4 -pull down status bar
5-press ‘ connect usb storage’ button

Method 2
Alternatively, without USB debugging enabled (USB debugging must be disabled):

Go to Settings > Wireless & Network > USB utilities and click the button > then (and ONLY then) plug in USB cable
