On a Linux host runs Oracle VM VirtualBox with Windows XP. When editing any GIF image with XnView (2.31) , the image file gets destroyed. Problem appears on both systems, inside the VM and from VM to Linux. (XnView MP on Linux runs fine with editing GIF files.)
Any idea, anybody?

Re: XnView kills GIF images in VM
This GIF animation has to be unoptimized.

--unoptimize
- Unoptimize GIF animations into an easy-to-edit form.
GIF animations are often optimized (see --optimize) to make them smaller and faster to load, which unfortunately makes them difficult to edit. --unoptimize changes optimized input GIFs into unoptimized GIFs, where each frame is a faithful representation of what a user would see at that point in the animation.

Re: XnView kills GIF images in VM
This image is NOT an animation, only one picture.
Re: XnView kills GIF images in VM
Could you please upload the (unedited) image to the forum?
Re: XnView kills GIF images in VM
Until now this problem occurs with every GIF image that I wanted to edit in the mentiond way. The source file was a JPG image that got converted into GIF to reduce file size, done with XnView (but can't recall which version that was).
