0.85: Create thumbnails for the whole folder
XnView MP Windows
Version 0.89 64bits
Windows 10 Pro x64
Version 1709 Build 16229.125
----
If you set Settings > Thumbnail > Create thumbnails for the whole folder to FALSE
XnView starts high disk activity especially:
C:\$LogFile (NTFS Volume Log) ... Write(B/sec) 1,800,000
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\XnViewMP\XnView.db ... Write(B/sec) 1,700,000
The above data is from Resource Monitor.
This behavior can disrupt other applications work, like rendering applications.

Re: 0.85: Create thumbnails for the whole folder
your folder contains a lot of files? no problem if this setting is TRUE?
Pierre.
Re: 0.85: Create thumbnails for the whole folder
No issue with Create thumbnails for the whole folder set to TRUE.
I just did more tests and found something interesting that is not related to the number of files in the folder.
I have an empty folder with just one TXT file and Create thumbnails for the whole folder set to FALSE.
If I set
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Visible to TRUE
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Show as Thumbnail to FALSE
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Show in preview to FALSE
I have the high disk activity issue.
If I set
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Visible to TRUE
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Show as Thumbnail to TRUE
Settings > File list > Custom Filter > Text > Show in preview to FALSE
I don't have the high disk activity issue.
