Please update to webp 1.0.0

Post by WebDev12 »

Hello -- The 1.0.0 release of libwebp will happen any day now: https://groups.google.com/a/webmproject ... BQxRrKYlIM

And it would be good if XnView updated to it, since there have been many improvements since the last version XnView adopted. Even updating to the current 0.6.1 release would be a nice upgrade: https://storage.googleapis.com/download ... index.html

Also, if you use OptiPNG or pingo for PNG files, they've had important updates as well:

As of 18th Apr 2018 - rc3 [3] is up, this should be the last one before the final release.

1.0.0 final has been released: https://chromium.googlesource.com/webm/libwebp/+/v1.0.0

Also, saving metadata in WebP would be nice.

Thanks. :)

No. Gimp 2.10 is said to support metadata in WebP¹, but when I export, it does not seem to include any metadata.

Just a reminder. I haven't seen any mention of webp in the release notes. 1.0.0 has been out for a few months.

Pingo ist for me the best, free and fastest (multicore cpu usage) png/jpeg optimizer!
The developer designed a frontend (pinga), too.

The PNG optimization is impressive und up to 50%.

Webp is an interesting file format, but not so popularly. It is a shame.
But the same problem has JPEG XR and other file formats.
