Viewing by EXIF date

Hi folks

I've been searching for an image viewer which displays the photos in a folder, whether RW2 or JPEG, in the order in which they were taken. I thought this would be easy but it hasn't proved to be so. I've just downloaded XNView Classic which lists the JPEGs correctly in order taken, but shows the RW2 files (Lumix RAW files, and related XMP files) at the end of the list in an order I can't determine.
Ideally I want, for example, to shoot JPEG+RW2 and each pair is shown side by side in XnView. Given the RW2 file has EXIF date the same as the JPEG, I can't work out why they're not shown consecutively.

Can anyone help? I've become frustrated in my search for a solution.
