"Save As" did not work for me today
Hello:
I scanned a number of pages today, and saved them. Opened the file folder in Explorer, and opened the files one by one, rotated as needed, cropped, and saved (with Save As).
When I went back to check on the files, I discovered that at least cropping had not worked on some files. When I tried again, I could not get Save As to work at all. (Note that the files already had names, and that I confirmed that the cropped file should replace the non-cropped file in each case.)
So, I cropped again, and this time, I tried Save, and it worked.
I was using XnView MP.
What might have happened, should you know? Anything I should try or change?
Thanks,
Hans L

Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
Hello Hans L,
there could be many reasons, because your saving of your edited pictures did not work.
I tried the same steps under Windows 10 with XnViewMP and saving of the picture file works fine.
What operating system do you use?
Which file format did you use for saving?
Please describe your steps with full details.
Maybe your scanned pictures were to big and saving did not work, because you do not have enough RAM!?
Did you saved your pictures in a directory, where you do not have the required rights (admin rights required)?

Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
Masterjp, thanks for your response. Here's mine:
- What operating system do you use? => Windows 10, build 1803, 64-bit
- Which file format did you use for saving? => .jpg
- Maybe your scanned pictures were too big and saving did not work, because you do not have enough RAM!? => not big, plenty of RAM
- Did you saved your pictures in a directory, where you do not have the required rights (admin rights required)? => No special rights needed.
Please describe your steps with full details. =>
Scanned pictures, saved them all in one fell swoop, to Folder Y, names (e.g.) xxx-1.jpg. xxx-2.jpg, etc.
Opened first file (xxx-1.jpg) in XnViewMP, rotated, cropped, clicked Next File arrow, got box "Do you want to change to xxx-1.jpg", clicked Save, and was then taken to xxx-2,jpg, where I repeated the rotation/cropping, and so on.
When I opened the files later, the rotation and cropping had not taken effect, that is, Save (and replace) had not worked.
Regards,
Hans L

Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
so "Save" works, and not "Save as"? no error message?
Pierre.

Correct. And no error message.

Yes, same folder.
However, now (I am scanning and saving again), it works. A fluke? Sorry about the bother, but it shows that under certain circumstances (I do not know which), this problem occurs.
An aside: When I open MP, the menus and toolbars etc. (but not images) are sooooo small as to be almost illegible. Setting?
And the monitor is set to DPI = 125 %, which MP does not seem to respond to. Is MP "DPI =neutral"? Setting?

Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
Not MP.'s fault. In one monitor the size is fine, and in another monitor, with the same settings (and both landscape), the toobars etc. are soooo small.
Yet, with the knowledge you must have about graphics, would you have any clue (that is all I need) to what might be different?
Thanks,
Hans L

- Icons
- Tools → Settings… → Interface → ToolBar → Large icons
- Fonts
Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
I am afraid I have to report there still is a problem.
Opening jpg file
Rotating image
Clicking Save As, saving to same file name
"[file name] already exists. Do you want to replace it?
Yes
Closing file
-----------------------------
Opening file again
Changes NOT saved.
======================================
Doing the same thing, but clicking Save. Changes saved!
Doing same thing, using Save As to a new file, changes saved.
=======================================
Glitch?

Re: "Save As" did not work for me today
Pierre, I installed v 94, opened a photo (.jpg) in xnView MP, rotated it, save by clicking the Save button with a question mark on it (Save as ...), and then opened the file again. The rotation was NOT saved.
