Options to keep filename for videos when importing
Hello,
maybe I missed that while searching the forums, sorry if so.
What I found was a screenshot of the "Import & Sorting" dialog where a field for filename is shown (in the section for images AND an extra one for videos). This field I do not have in my dialog. I updated to newest version auf XnView MP, but it's not there. I was not able to find out if that feature is part of the software or not. So maybe someone can tell me if there is something missing or if I am not able to give a particular filename to my videos while importing (at the moment it uses the setting for images, which is the EXIF DateTime and with that the filename is deleted, since videos do not have that information)
Anything I can do about this ? (beside importing images and videos in two steps instead of one, but that would be a lot of work due to the amount of data I do want to organize).
Thanks in advance!

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
by default filenames of video are not changed
Pierre.
Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
Thanks for the information and that would be ok if it would work like this.
But as I said, the filename was deleted. So after importing, I had video files with an empty filename (name was: ".mp4", just the extension without the original filename).
I am sure, I am doing something wrong, but I can not find any option which could cause this. Maybe you can give me a hint about this ?
Thanks in advance,

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
could you post a screenshot of import dialog?
Pierre.
Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
No problem.
I did a test run and double checked the options but did not find out where I made the mistakes.
As you can see, the photos are renamed in correct way but the videos seem to take the new filename pattern of the images ? Since the videos to do not have EXIF data (I suppose) they obviously just get the filenumber. But since the checkbox "Files without EXIF data ...." is checked they should be moved to the folder with "Andere Dateien" instead of the folder I gave them below.
Let me know if you need any extra info!
Thanks for your help!

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
hum, what is the best. if template used use EXIF, video filename must be kept?
Pierre.
Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
So the option "use EXIF" is for photos and videos ?
Since there is a clear break between the section "photos" and the section "videos" I expected that it would be used separately. The field "new filename" belongs - at least in my view - clearly to photos. That is why I wondered about the change of the videos' filename.
So, I think keeping the filename of videos unchanged would be a nice option or - maybe - another, separate field for a template for renaming video files.

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.98.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
Hello,
I just tested it and it worked. But only if you use something like {Modified Date [Ymd_HMS]}-{Filename Number} for filename. As soon as I use {EXIF:Date Taken [Ymd_HMS]}-{Filename Number} (which I do you usually), the videos do not have any date in filename because they do not have EXIF-data (at least not the ones taken by my Pentax K-70).
In my view it turns out that photos and videos should have a seperated option for templates.
Greetings,

Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
Currently EXIF field can't be used for Video filename
Pierre.
Re: Options to keep filename for videos when importing
Yes, I noticed that.
With that, the option is cool, but not usuable - at least for me .
Do you have plans to extend it to a own template for videos some time ?
Thanks for your work!
